We are looking for a Junior Risk and Compliance Lawyer to join our team on a full-time basis. We are a friendly but focused team committed to delivering consistent, high-quality advice and services to the Firm's offices globally.

In this role, you will report to the Risk and Compliance Manager, working closely with the global risk teams to ensure that the Firm complies with its regulatory obligations and appropriately manages and mitigates its risks.

We are looking for a Junior Risk and Compliance Lawyer to join our team on a permanent basis. We are a friendly team committed to delivering consistent, high-quality client service to the firm's offices globally.

In this role, you will report to the Risk and Compliance Manager. The role also includes working closely with the global risk teams to ensure that the Firm complies with its regulatory obligations and appropriately manages and mitigates risks.

Summary of duties
The Junior Risk and Compliance Lawyer will be responsible for assisting the Risk and Compliance Manager in managing Data Protection, Financial Crime and General Compliance risk issues. The mains duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Taking ownership of delivering key projects and reporting progress to the Risk and Compliance Manager
  • Maintaining key metrics and other required data, such as risk registers and the breaches register
  • Developing and maintaining compliance frameworks for specified risk areas
  • Drafting, updating and maintaining compliance-related documentation, including policies, procedures and templates, as well as compliance bulletins and other internal communications
  • Horizon scanning and keeping up-to-date with industry guidance
  • Assisting with the preparation of training materials and helping in delivering training for all relevant offices
  • Providing practical and prompt advice and assistance to fee-earners and other professional staff in relation to data protection, financial crime and general compliance queries, for example but not limited to, advising on data processing agreements, client due diligence/KYC queries, reviewing compliance provisions in pitches, conducting ongoing monitoring, ethical conduct queries and confidentiality issues
  • Monitoring and encouraging compliance with statutory and regulatory rules and best practice across the EMEA offices
  • Promoting and developing a risk management culture across the Firm
  • Supervising junior members of the team and also dealing with escalations on complex issues where appropriate
  • Getting involved in any other ad-hoc compliance tasks/projects as required

Key skills

  • Excellent IT skills particularly with the full suite of Office products
  • The ability to handle sensitive and confidential management issues and information with discretion
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster excellent working relationships at all levels
  • The ability to prioritise and manage a full workload, delegating as required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organised and proactive with the ability to prioritise work in a pressured environment

Education and experience

  • Qualified Solicitor with relevant experience in either a risk and compliance or corporate position
  • Experience within a law firm or relevant in-house experience required.
