Job Description:

Due to the recent award of a new projects a leading manufacturer supplying the automotive sector has a new vacancy for a Functional Safety Engineer. Working cross-domain (Systems, HW, SW) you will ensure products align with the company's functional safety process and requirements and candidates must have a good understanding of ISO 26262.

Commutable from: Birmingham, Coventry, West Bromwich, Redditch, Solihull, Warwick, Castle Bromwich, Leamington Spa.

Salary: £ 45,000 - £ 55,000 + excellent benefits

The Role

Working closely with all stakeholders you will ensure the delivery of safe engineering solutions are compliant with relevant legislation and appropriate regulations & standards to deliver Functional Safety products as per ISO 26262.

Key responsibilities:

Work with system engineers, components engineers and external suppliers, deliver designs with ISO 26262 compliance, define safety concepts along with technical, software and hardware safety requirements.

Safety and Failure analysis (FMEA/ FTA/ DFA), documenting analysis outcomes and recommending requirements based on results of this analysis.

Participate in Reliability study for HW (Fault metrics calculations) and FMEDA

Support customer reviews with functional safety input.

Deliver work products in compliance with processes for ISO 9001

Deliver tasks in line with project milestones

The candidate:

Experience in delivering functional safety projects (preferably knowledge of automotive industry)

Good understanding of ISO 26262, IEC 61508 or ISO 13849 standards.

Experience with AUTOSAR network design tools

Experience in the application of functional safety standards to relevant projects.

Familiarity with systems engineering processes from requirements capture through to design validation. Familiarity with MBSE techniques for system modelling.

Hardware verification knowledge
