Job Description:

Our client, a leading application provider within the workflow, asset and building management industry, have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Database Administrator, with a strong command of SQL, PowerShell and Unix to join them.

Location: Fleet or Cambridge
Salary: Up to £45k per annum plus benefits

You will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database, involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

Working closely with the users, you will understand their needs, monitor access and security, map out design for the planned database, considering both the front-end and back-end organisation and accessibility and ultimately continue to refine it to meet new storage requirements.

You will also be responsible for testing back-up and recovery plans, work closely with IT PM's and Programmers and commission and install new applications.

Ultimately this is a great role for someone looking to take ownership of a database and help ensure it continues to remain fit for purpose in fast-growing organisation.

Although the working hours are Monday-Friday, you will be required to work outside of hours and be on the on-call rota across evenings and weekends where needed.

Our ideal applicant will have/be;

Significant experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field
Strong command of SQL Query Language and SQL server tools
Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
Understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling combined with strong mathematical and statistical knowledge
PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills
Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Impeccable attention to detail
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred
Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments
Extensive experience with database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL Oracle, MongoDB)
Experience with cloud services
