Chubb Fire & Security, part of the Carrier global group of businesses, is currently recruiting for a Head of QEHS The main goal of this role is to work with line management, EH&S team members and other operational departments to provide support and direction to the business on EH&S programs and processes

What will I be doing as Head of QEHS?

  • To play a leading role in the assurance and continuous improvement of the business by providing Quality and Safety Leadership to all CFS front line & back office functions.
  • Required to play a key role in the deployment of Quality, EHS & Product Safety Strategies, to ensure optimisation of key processes results in safe working practices, and the delivery of safe, reliable products & services.
  • Plan, develop and implement campaigns / programs, methods and procedures for occupational, safety, health; energy conservation and environmental protection.
  • Work with Sales & Commercial functions to ensure that Quality & Safety Planning requirements for National, and key regional accounts capture all corporate, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain company & Engineer compliance to the relevent accreditation schemes, including memberships & Management System certifications.
  • Lead & deploy QEHS surveillance plans through successful delivery of designated Field based Inspections, Product & Process Audits, and supplier surveillance.
  • Provide thought leadership & guidance for management system process development.
  • Develop & deploy QEHS Business Plans, promoting a culture of quality & safety through ownership, responsibility and accountability.
  • Provision of Quality & Safety Planning requirements for National, & key regional accounts during Tenders.
  • Support Operations teams to implement Corporate Policies, EHS requirements and local legislation including Minimum Operating Requirements (MOR's), Cardinal Rules, Standard Practices (SP's), Standard Work Instructions (SWI).
  • Support the provision of Supply Chain Quality requirements & supplier surveillance schedules.
  • Provide product planning assistance to Passport / Quality Review Board (QRB) ensuring successful capture of product safety & quality requirements are met.
  • Provide regular communications to ensure standards are maintained, and lessons learned are captured. Ensuring that Service Managers Engineers remain informed of changes to requirements.
  • Ensure product compliance with relevant codes of practice and standards, communicating changes to requirements at the earliest available opportunity.

Qualifications/ Experience/Knowledge:
  • Professional qualification is desirable (IOSH, NEBOSH, CQI, BEng etc.)
  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Management System standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 & ISO 27001)
  • Experience/Knowledge of Operations in the Fire & Security sector preferred (including associated sector schemes (e.g. BAFE, NSI / SSAIB)
  • Good knowledge & understanding of British & European standards and legislative requirements in the Fire & Security industry
  • Previous auditing experience essential
  • Experience of safety in a service environment or a field based mobile work force is essential
  • Experience in a Quality Management Role or a Degree in Quality Management is preferential
  • Experience of accident investigation and identifying corrective action.
  • Current knowledge of EHS practices and legislation in the UK / Ireland
  • Working knowledge of quality improvement and lean methodologies including 5S, Root Cause Analysis, 6 Sigma, FMEA, business process/value stream mapping, Kaizen, market feedback analysis etc would be an advantage
  • IT literate with a good knowledge of SharePoint, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Word
