Head of Retail Finance, Central London, £70-80k (Negotiable for high flyers)

Our client is a rapidly expanding retail & hospitality chain. Following a number of successful acquisitions they have received funding for a further expansion drive through organic growth and additional M&A activity. While the model is not unique to the sector it is very clever in its application and has afforded them an opportunity to grow faster than similar competitors.

This is a senior appointment with total responsibility for the entire Retail finance function; a finance function that will need taking from its current form which was fit for purpose when a smaller business to what is required from a rapidly expanding chain with increasing levels of complexity.

Key Responsibilities

This exciting role will be responsible for providing financial expertise, control and business support & oversight for the Retail division. Working closely with the CFO and COO, this role will provide financial control, decision support and analysis across bricks and mortar retail stores, multichannel operations, trading, DC and logistics, supply chain, marketing and key customer/commercial relationships.

More specifically, responsibilities include:

* Support with M&A activity where required
* Provide challenge and development for colleagues
* Provision of regular and timely financial information to the Retail business including the preparation of periodic management accounts.
* Provide financial support and challenge to each area of the Retail business and ensuring appropriate accountability of budget holders.
* Ensure compliance with all Group accounting policies and procedures.
* Monitor and control capital expenditure within the Retail business ensuring compliance with Group policies and adherence to budget/forecast.
* Provide financial insight, quality analysis and commercial recommendations to support informed decision-making across the Retail business.
* Support and develop stock monitoring and control processes and other working capital reduction initiatives.
* Preparation of annual budgets, re-forecasts and rolling forecasts for the Retail business.

You will have a formal accountancy background with ACA, ACMA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent), with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience. You will be on a focused career path to CFO, but will not have got there, yet. This will most probably be your first director-level appointment, but you will have strong leadership experience within an innovative, fast-paced true retail environment where you have been given the chance to do things differently, and encouraged to do so.
