Job Description:

When you work at Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre (STC) as a Custodial Care Officer you will realise quite quickly that this is not just another job. This is a challenging and rewarding career where you will have real opportunities to change young people's lives.

Do you have what it takes to become a Prison Officer? We are asking for applications from people who are resilient, emotionally intelligent, motivated and enthusiastic and we'll provide you with the tools to be successful during our 7-week Initial Training Programme - you just need to have the attitude and passion to be successful in this role.

The Role
Each day at Rainsbrook STC, as a Custodial Worker you will safeguard, supervise and mentor our 12-18 year olds who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. You will play a key role in helping the young people in your care to build their skills and experience, motivating and inspiring them to fulfil their potential and turn their lives around.

This is certainly a diverse and hugely rewarding role but can be extremely challenging at times too. The children and young people detained here at Rainsbrook can often be confrontational and unpredictable so you will need to remain calm, confident and resilient, with a supportive 'firm but fair' approach to deal with a variety of situations effectively. You will need to be a positive role model for our young people, taking a proactive approach to behaviour management and goal implementation to encourage change. Experience of working with young or vulnerable people is desirable but not essential.

Salary
Custodial Care Officers / Custodial Workers receive a starting salary of £20,705 whilst completing their training and probationary period. This will then increase to £23,500. We offer an incredible benefits package; just take a look at our 'Benefits with Rainsbrook' page of our website!

Hours
Rainsbrook STC operates 24 hours a day, therefore our staff member will work on a rotational shift pattern that includes weekends and some night shifts. You can expect your shift pattern to look something like this:
Days: 7.30am-9.30pm (3 days a week)
Weekend work every other weekend

Nights: 9.15pm-7.45am (once every 16 weeks you would work 7 night shifts, then have 7 days off!)
Interested in joining our team at Rainsbrook? If you feel you have the passion, drive and resilience needed to be a great Custodial Worker then please apply now and our Resourcing Team will be in touch.

PLEASE NOTE: To apply for this role, you must be eligible to work in the UK and must have been residing in the UK for a minimum of 5 years. You will be required to undergo DBS enhanced level security clearance and will need to provide full details of your work and educational history covering the last 5 years as part of the screening process for the role. MTCnovo promotes diversity and equality of opportunity. We operate in line with safer recruitment guidelines
