Fulcrum Maritime Systems Ltd (Fulcrum) is a UK registered SME that was established in 2008 to provide services to the maritime sector. Since January 2017, Fulcrum is fully owned by the CLS Group, a French company based in Toulouse with strong connections to the French National Space Agency (CNES).

Fulcrum has developed a portfolio of services to provide tracking, monitoring & surveillance, security and safety in the maritime environment. Many of these services are based on the use of satellite data and the analysis of satellite images. Our services are global and are often guided by international regulation.

Our clients are typicallyinternational authorities (customs officials, coastguards, national navies, maritime security agencies and ship registries) andprivate stakeholderssuch as freight or insurance companies, fleet managers and vessel owners.

Business Area:

Maritime surveillance aims tounderstand, prevent when possible and manage comprehensibly the events and activitiesoccurring at sea that could affect the safety and security of people or property. This includes law enforcement at sea, defence, border controls, protection of the marine environment, fishing control, detection of pollution at sea and protecting the economic interests of States.

Role:

This post will work with and report to the Business Development Manager (BDM). This role is based in the UK offices in Hornchurch, Essex and the prospective client is expected to work in the office during regular working hours, 09h00 to 17h00, Monday to Friday.

The prospective employee's role will be to take over the management of a portfolio of existing customers and develop new markets around the world in coordination with the Business Development Manager and the company Directors.

There is a great deal of overlap between the services that Fulcrum provides and those that the CLS Maritime Security Business Unit provides and we often collaborate on joint projects. The prospective employee may therefore work in collaboration with members of the Maritime Security team from our parent company and the role will inevitably involve trips to Toulouse.

As our clients are international, we are often required to travel to the client site, so international travel will also be required from time to time.

Activities:

- actively promote services to existing customers

- monitor, anticipate and respond to international tenders/request for proposals

- set up partnerships / consortia to respond to tender offers

- prepare technical and financial offers in coordination with the BDM, Director and/or technical department (as required)

- ensure regular follow-up and support with their client portfolio (management of billing deadlines, monitoring and reporting of project profitability, analysing sales results, review of regular services, etc.)

- present services and raise company profile at international conferences, forums or trade shows, including making presentations to high profile international audiences

- develop new markets or services in line with corporate strategy, and present the associated business plan

- report weekly to BDM

Essential:

- English to native speaker level.

- Must be well presented, articulate, aware of formal protocols in an international arena

- Minimum 3 years experience in an appropriate domain.

- Able to demonstrate relevant experience with a proven sales record.

- Experience of negotiating and signing contracts with clients

- Must be able to prepare presentations and comfortable delivering presentations to customers and international forums

- Must be able to accommodate frequent international travel

Would be an advantage to have:

- Degree level education or equivalent.

- Experience of the maritime sector

- Ability to speak other languages

Location:

Based in Hornchurch, Essex with regular UK and international travel anticipated.

The successful applicant will be required to attend two-week initial training course in Toulouse, France and subsequent visits to familiarise themselves with corporate code of conduct and with portfolio of services.
