The Opportunity : Facilities & Compliance Officer

The Location : North London

The package: £35'000

In this very important position, you will be responsible for the facilities team to ensure a safe working and compliant environment for customers and employees.

The business have 5 retail locations, a head office and wholesale unit.

You will be responsible for the compliance of Health and Safety, Food Safety, Statutory, Contractual, Company Regulations and processes.


Main Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety
  • Food Safety - to ensure that the Food Safety Policy is adhered to in all stores
  • Monthly Health and Safety and Food Safety audits to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented for each site
  • Provide a detailed action plan to manage any non-compliance with the urgency required
  • Manage fire safety, pest control, maintenance, cleaning, security, and maximize the efficiency of internal resources
  • Carry out Health & Safety and Food Safety Risk Assessments and consider how risks could be reduced; develop internal policy and keep documents up to date and retained according to legislation
  • Record incidents and accidents and ensure RIDDOR is followed
  • Meet with EHO inspectors and local authority officials and follow up on any issues raised
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain policies of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and Food Safety and any developments that will affect store operations.
  • Update and maintain policies
  • Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos
  • Manage specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, safeguarding machinery, food safety and vehicles • Ensure stores have all the relevant licences in place and keep updated eg. DPS
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business


Essential Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar legal compliance /facilities role
  • Experience of operating within a commercial food orientated environment
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise with contractors
  • H&S trained to IOSH standard
  • Food Safety Level 3
  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Capability to work unsupervised and take responsibility
