Outline of role• To be the Finance Business Partner to the Retail Operations, Security and Distribution teams by providing financial information and analytical support to enable them to deliver their company targets and business profitability
• The Retail Finance team forms part of a larger Financial Planning team consisting of a Planning and Reporting team, and a Commercial Finance team. The Retail Finance team is made up of:
o Retail Finance:
7 analysts providing analysis and support to 800 stores, and over 100 retail support personnel
Production of weekly and monthly performance reports including store P&Ls, category reports, KPI one pagers etc.
Analysis of company shrinkage by store and sku
Provision of store wage and hours budgets by week, with analysis of performance and forward forecasts
o Distribution Finance:
1 analyst providing analysis and support to the Logistics Director and his team across two main and two subsidiary distribution centres
Analysis of weekly and monthly performance of KPIs

Purpose of the Role
• To provide financial information and analytical support to the Management teams within Retail Operations, Security and Distribution to enable them to deliver their company targets and business profitability

Key Responsibilities
• Management of a team of 7 analysts and accountants ensuring the team works efficiently, supporting non-finance customers, and continually challenges and adds value
• Lead finance representative at the Retail Exec Board, offering financial insight and challenge into the retail strategy and business decision making process
• Overall responsibility for the following lines on the P&L:
o Wages (£150m p.a.) - ensuring accurate accounting and value adding reporting, e.g. weekly wage cost flash, month end cost analysis etc.
o Shrinkage (£14m p.a.) - ensuring tight control and reporting of costs through involvement in the Shrinkage Action Group, company strategies, day to day analysis etc.
o Controllable store costs and overheads - to create a no surprises environment
• Overall responsibility for the finance business partnering of all 6 Regions with direct responsibility for two regions i.e. regional managers, area managers and their field support teams including:
o Attendance at regional monthly meetings (nationwide): includes financial presentations to the regions and on hand support to cover Area Manager queries on store costs, financial processes etc.
o Financial support and analysis: provide assistance for regional specific initiatives, e.g. balanced scorecards, sales competitions, trend analysis etc.
• Control of the Retail budget process - includes guiding the regions and areas through the budget process as well as overall control of the retail cost lines
• Overall responsibility for the Company's Retail KPI Bonus model

Person specification• Qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent) - essential. At least 5 years PQE
• Good communication skills - essential
• Experience working with non-finance customers - essential
• Advanced knowledge of Excel - essential
