Lead Developer PHP - Ecommerce Retail

Based London

£Negotiable for the right candidate

The Company:

This is a hugely exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding ecommerce business to help establish the business as a leading online specialist retailer in the UK and Internationally. To help drive future growth and success they now require a Lead Developer capable of leading a team and also being highly capable as a coder.

The role:

Based from the Head office in South West London your key remit as Lead Developer will be to lead the development team in improving existing functionality and also develop new ecommerce features. It is important that you have experience in working outside of frameworks and plugin systems like Magento and Drupal with the ability to work with a bespoke Technology Stack.

Key activities will include:

  • Develop new ecommerce features and improve existing functionality
  • Research and evaluate new web technology
  • Contribute to the development of working practices
  • Consult and advise on web technology across multiple departments
  • Solve complex technical challenges
  • Improve user experience for customers and colleagues
  • Liaise with third parties
  • Improve our underlying technology stack to ensure high performance, continuity and scalability

Candidate requirements:

  • Previous experience of working within a commercial ecommerce business
  • Practical understanding of key development and design principles and processes such as OOP, EAV, MVC, SOLID, Agile Scrum
  • Excellent coding abilities in both procedural/global and Object-Oriented PHP
  • Advanced MySQL experience with a sound understanding of database normalisation and optimisation
  • Strong understanding of website security
  • Excellent oral communication skills and fluency in English
  • Familiarity with online marketing practices and a love of problem solving
  • Traditional LAMP stack. Monolithic System
  • Any additional experience around REST/SOAP integrations/Payment Integrations (Not just adding PayPal plugin) advantageous
