Cygnet Hospital Stevenage offers a range of secure mental health services across 6 wards for men and women in a purpose-built therapeutic environment where the focus is on maximising positive outcomes and recovery. A range of therapies supports the care pathway towards independent living.
We are currently recruiting for a Security Receptionist who will take overall responsibility for access and egress within the hospital. The post-holder will be required to demonstrate skills in being the first point of contact and ensuring the reception function is handled calmly, effectively and professionally at all times including during core hours and also nights and weekend as part of the rota.

In this role you will:
• Monitor and control all access and egress throughout the Hospital.
• Answer and transfer telephone calls to the appropriate person, record messages for unavailable staff and refer queries on specific issues to relevant staff.
• Ensure all staff use the Traka system effectively when entering and leaving the building.
• Ensure all staff and visitors sign in and out prior to entering and leaving the hospital and ensure all patients leaving and returning are recorded appropriately.
• Open all non-private & non confidential mail to date stamp and place all mail in the appropriate pigeonhole.
• Ensure all staff abide by the security protocols and for all visitors, take contraband items and ensure they are stored safely and returned when people leave.
• Participate and lead in ad hoc security searches and exercises and conduct security inductions where required
• Act as a first point of contact for all overnight admissions and monitor all aspects of security overnight and produce a detailed report of any breaches, events or potential issues.
• Ensure the Reception area is kept clean & tidy.

We are looking for people who have:
• Ability to function in a busy, pressurised environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a pleasant demeanour.
• Experience in a similar role.
• GCSE Maths and English or equivalent level of numeracy and literacy.
• Microsoft IT skills.
• Flexibility to work days, nights and weekends as required to cover reception area.
