PPM Maintenance Engineer

Bradford & Rochdale

£35-40K dependant on experience

Regular days

Highly experienced Maintenance Engineer required to work for a reputable manufacturing company with sites in Bradford and Rochdale. Predominantly Bradford based with 1-2 days at Rochdale depending on workload. Flexibility to work between the two sites is essential.

The role is predominantly hands on maintenance, with an emphasis on setting up and implementing a PPM system across both sites, and managing the day to day maintenance activities including sourcing of parts, upgrading plant and leading continuous improvements.

OVERVIEW

Preventative maintenance on machines and equipment

Responding to emergency machine breakdowns throughout the plant

Involvement with new design, installation and movements of existing and new machines and equipment

Overhaul and repair of machines and equipment.

Ensuring machines and equipment on site are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose.

Contribute were necessary in factory and shop floor continuous improvement activities

Carry out any minor building maintenance work that may be required.

Assist were applicable with routine maintenance and repair to mould tools and fixtures used by the company.

Assistance with new product introduction and process set up.

Daily preparation and fabrication of tooling onto bespoke carriers ready for production use.

Must be prepared to work shifts, work overtime and respond to call outs as required in line with the remit of the post and to suit company needs.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To assist in the Design, Promote and carry out preventative maintenance function across all sites.

Completion of all necessary paper work which supports the role.

Ensure all machines are working, safe and fit for purpose.

Installation and movement of new machines and equipment.

Overhaul, upkeep and repair of all plant and machines, which will include working on;

Machine PLC

Roto mould machines

Lifting hoists

Electrical hand tools

Tooling and fixtures

Electrical Installation.

Fabrication of tool carriers to suit specific plant and machinery for production use.

Repair and modification to any tooling that can be completed using on site skills and equipment.

Assist with new product introduction and set up. Including sampling and construction of cooling/trimming fixtures

Review and advise on engineering requirements and drawings for machinery and equipment.

Work with and install single phase and three phase electrical circuits.

Actively promote safe working practices on the use of machines and equipment.

Work with and co-ordinate contractors.

Undertake all repairs and servicing to the highest standard in accordance with work requests and pre-determined specifications.

Fault finding, testing and replacement or repair of existing fittings, fixtures or parts.

Where detailed specifications are not available or provided, determine the cause of the fault and then undertake the most cost effective solution to remedy the defect.

Effective communication at all times - keep Management and all relevant parties aware and seek advice and assistance when required.

Any other duties as may be required with the grading of the post and the skill of the post holder.

Responsibilities for equipment and tools

Job Holder expected to have own trade basic toolkit which they will maintain

Company will provide any specialist tools as required.

Key Holder.

Building Security / Setting the intruder alarm

Fire Alarm - Responsible for routine testing of the fire alarm

REQUIREMENTS

Essential:

Engineering / Maintenance Qualification

Current understanding and knowledge of Health and Safety practises - IOSH qualification minimum

PLC knowledge ideally for roto-moulding machinery (oven control, motion control, time control, guarding interaction)

Mechanical Engineering understanding

Pneumatics

Some Hydraulics experience

Desirable:

Experience of Rotational Moulding process and machinery

Experience of plastics manufacturing environment.

17th Edition Electrical Installation

Post holder must be able to meet the transport requirements of the role.

Must be prepared to work shifts, work overtime and attend call outs when necessary.

Must be prepared to work across all sites.

Post holder must be able to work well under pressure and be able to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.

The role will demand that the post holder is able to challenge constructively existing ideas and practices.
