Our client is a leading and innovative Manufacturing Business who is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Health & Safety Manager reporting directly to the MD.

Qualifications and experience

Minimum 3 years Manufacturing exposure
Educated to Degree (or equivalent) in Health & Safety or Environmental Management
Expert knowledge of HSE management.
Flexible and adaptable to an ever-changing business environment.
Commercially aware and innovative.
Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt. Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access.
Membership of IOSH and IEMA.
Knowledge of construction management & CDM Regulations.
Comprehensive knowledge of current HSE legislation, approved codes of practice and best practice.
Experience in assessing and developing HSE competencies.

Job Overview

Development of people and processes in all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements for the business in the UK. To lead and be accountable for all aspects of the Health and Safety function working with other functions to develop and improve processes with all stakeholders, be they internal, customers or suppliers. Provision of expertise and support to enable the business to meet all requirements of Safety including but not limited to achieving and maintaining certification ensuring compliance to relevant standards and legislative requirements.

Main Responsibilities include:

Development and ownership of HSE System and to be a Management Representative
Governance of non-conformance
Responsibility for ensuring action close out from non-conformances and complaints
Responsible for compliance with required standards, and knowledge of latest standards
Development and Management of Environmental significant aspects register
Management of Health & Safety
EHS Risk Assessment process management
Understanding customer specific HSE requirements and ensuring compliance
Management Review preparation & follow up
Development, maintenance and approval of HSE Policy, Manual and relevant processes & procedures
HSE training requirements for employees
Analysis and reporting of HSE data and metrics, including Key Performance Indicators
Management of HSE improvement plans
Management of HSE related issues with suppliers, internally or with customers
Management of facilities and maintenance
Undertake other project and leadership activities as required

Communication skills - ability to communicate effectively at all levels, verbally, in writing and in group setting.
