Business Fire Safety Inspecting Officers
Salary: Grade 6 (£25,481 - £27,741)
Hours: Full Time - 37 Hours per week
Work Pattern: Flexi time
Location: As required within South Yorkshire
Multiple contracts are available:
* Fixed Term Contract until 31 July 2021 - x2 positions available
* FTC/Secondment (up to) 12 Months - x3 positions available
* Permanent - x1 position available
An opportunity has arisen within our Business Fire Safety Team for Fire Safety Inspecting Officers, based at either Barnsley, Sheffield or Doncaster (The final base location will be confirmed after the successful completion of the probationary period).
The overall purpose of the role will be work in a closely knit team to carry out audits or inspections of non-domestic premises in South Yorkshire and enforce the regulations of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, The Explosives Regulations 2014 and the Petroleum (Consolidation) Regulations 2014.
To be considered you will require a basic knowledge of the role South Yorkshire Fire Authority has in enforcement within the business community and the importance of providing a professional and quality service. You must hold a current National Fire Chiefs Business Fire Safety Regulators Level 4 Diploma or equivalent. More information on this can be found on their website.
Applicants must:
* Hold a National Fire Chiefs Business Fire Safety Regulators Level 4 Diploma or equivalent
* Have proven experience in administration and/or technical/enforcement work
* Be able to work in accordance with current legislative parameters
* Where possible have experience in working with the public
* Have excellent written and communication skills
* Have the ability to plan, manage and prioritise workloads
* Have a current full driving licence
The key duties will include the audit and inspection of business premises in South Yorkshire and where required carry out the required level of formal enforcement activity. Full training will be provided to successful candidates.
Closing date for applications is 1800 hours on 30 October 2020.
Interviews will be held week commencing 12 November 2020 via Zoom.
Start date will be confirmed on appointment. These are full time placements.
