Part Time Medical Receptionist, Central London

Our client is seeking a part time Medical Receptionist based in Central London. This is a part time, permanent role working 25 hours per week.

The role:

The successful candidate will be required to provide general assistance to patients, doctors and their staff to ensure enquiries are handled promptly, efficiently and courteously and to provide administrative support to the landlords for the efficient and smooth running of the premises.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 1pm - 6pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet the patients in a friendly and courteous manner at all times
  • Assist and direct patients to the waiting room, practice reception area, office and consulting rooms as appropriate
  • Explain practice arrangements and requirements for new patients in accordance with practice procedures
  • Liaise and work closely with doctors and practice staff and provide support to assist with the smooth running of the practices
  • Ensure that the surgeries and clinics run efficiently and on time, monitor the flow of patients to and from consulting rooms, managing any delays through telephone, intercom and face to face interaction
  • Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors to the premises politely and as appropriate
  • Handle specimens as per practice protocol
  • Provide general administration support as required for the efficient and smooth running of the premises including liaising with practices, residential tenants, and contractors
  • Deliver all post and courier items to the practice mangers as soon as it arrives
  • Receive and make telephone calls as required; provide further information, take messages ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery
  • Keep safe prescriptions issued and other items for collection by patients
  • Open and secure the premises
  • Deal efficiently with all emergency situations
  • Arrange cover for absences due to annual leave
  • Adhere to health, safety, security and confidentiality processes and procedures
  • Undertake any other duties as may be determined from time to time to ensure the efficient running of the practices on the premises and or requested by the practices
  • Ensure the reception area, waiting room and other common parts are clean and tidy and liaise with cleaning staff on cleanliness and infection control issues
  • Handle and account for petty cash
