Allen & Overy is seeking an experienced paralegal, legal executive or administrator to support the firm's Global Client audit and compliance team (which sits within the BAU) on the next phase of the project . This is a temporary role for 6 months. Department purpose and structure The broad role of the BAU is: To process requests from partners for A&O to accept new legal matters including, in particular, performing anti-money laundering and background checks on new clients and performing conflicts checks (within internal databases) on each new matter (for both new and existing clients);; To authorise the opening of new legal matters when checks have been completed and any issues or problems satisfactorily resolved; to deal with business acceptance queries (including conflicts and anti-money laundering ID queries). To provide legal advice on client engagement terms To manage and lead all client audit and compliance queries including providing advice to Relationship Partners and other key stakeholders in the client relationship teams Responsibilities The key aspects of the role will be to provide support to existing client audit team during period of implementation of a project to enhance our processes and systems in relation to Client Audit and Engagement Terms, thereby also enabling the team to service exceptionally high demand as well as additional work load as a result of agreed broader remit for the team. Role to support new engagement terms lawyer, being recruited in Belfast as well as Senior Manager in London. Outline of duties as follows: Under supervision assist with completion of basic elements of client questionnaires Assisting with triage of new requests and development of an automated process to manage these going forward Co-ordinating all practical arrangements for on site client meetings/client calls - sending out reminders to participants on outstanding actions. Collating packs of information for client meetings Regular update of project tracker and remediation spread sheets + follow up of outstanding items & chasing stakeholders for information to meet client deadlines. Cross check remediation spread sheet with that held by information security to ensure consistent reporting Regular update of dashboard and other management information Assisting the team with ad hoc research eg review of specific engagement terms for particular information Assisting with updates and redrafting of complex documents and new policies e.g. secondment policies. Also assisting with development of suite of policies applicable for client use in conjunction with engagement terms lawyer Filing of final Client submissions to central Audit & Compliance collaborate site and updates/amendments to guidance notes and intranet site and supporting project development of new sites and systems.. Role requirements Commercially minded and ideally possessing a legal skill set; Excellent attention to detail Excellent task management skills and a proven ability to manage multiple tasks under time pressure; and Enthusiastic, self-motivated and pro-active. Solutions orientated Key requirements Previous relevant work experience as paralegal or administrator Excellent IT skills, in particular Word and Excel Excellent written and verbal communication skills A proven ability to work independently and pro actively
