Receptionist, Bury, Lancashire / Greater Manchester

Remaining as one of the few privately owned family carpet companies, this Lancashire based Company was established in the North of England in 1956 and today ranks as one of the leading British carpet manufacturers in the UK.

Job purpose: Reporting to the Sales Office Manager, you will be the face of the Company meeting and greeting clients and visitors, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries, directing visitors by maintaining employee and department directories and providing instructions. You will maintain security by following company procedures, monitoring the logbook and issuing visitor badges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answering general incoming calls
  • Screening and directing calls throughout the company
  • Taking messages and ensuring they are distributed
  • Managing outbound contacts for internal staff where necessary
  • Greeting visitors and ensuring contact is made for their appointments
  • Managing the reception inbox ensuring all message are handled professionally
  • Provide point of contact for all retailer factory visits
  • Management of sales meeting sign in process
  • Management of items delivered in to the business
  • Supporting other areas of the business as required

  • Contribute to company improvement initiatives
  • Consider safety in all aspects of work, adhere to site safety rules and report all instances of concern
  • Understand how own role and KPI's impact on organisation and department objectives
  • Support manager to deliver the above items

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Prior experience of working on a switchboard/front of house is essential
  • Well organised and efficient
  • The telephone system is Avaya - ISDX and training will be provided
  • The candidate must be well presented and have a clear, welcoming and enthusiastic telephone manner
  • The Reception Desk can be busy therefore applicants need to deal effectively and calmly with an active switchboard
  • Reception is situated apart from the General Offices therefore the ability to work unsupervised is essential

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8.30am-5pm

Salary: circa £17,000 + Benefits Including: Discretionary annual bonus, Company pension scheme (after 3 months), Private medical (after 12 months), 30 days holiday (including bank holidays and increasing to 35 days after 5 years service)
