Solution Manager - Managed Security & Integration Services Retail

Reporting to: VP Retail Services Portfolio

Background:

An experienced candidate is required to own the solution portfolio elements for the delivery of managed services that maintain the security and integrity of deployed devices and infrastructure components at retail sites.

This element focuses on all lifecycle stages of the management of a portfolio, including;

  • Concept Development, Innovation and Business Case
  • Detailed Design and Requirements management
  • Development of the offer incl:
    • service description
    • contractual terms
    • backed off service delivery commitment and costing with service group
    • production of service description and sales enablement materials
    • ownership of marketing communications incl DN.com web content
  • Test and Launch of offers
  • Maintenance and enhancement of offers in line with market needs
  • Retiring obsolete or un-profitable portfolio elements

The scope of the role relates to the ongoing need to keep all technology components at a retail site compliant with prevailing security and fiscal legislation and to ensure that they can be maintained to minimise the vulnerability to external and/or malicious attack.

This service portfolio is still to be fully defined/managed and includes, but is not limited to:

  • design of security requirements for retailers relating to the services needed to protect IT solution installed on-site
  • lifecycle of proactive security management
    • monitoring of critical threats and assessing when action is required
    • delivery of critical operating system, bios and driver security updates to all in scope devices including assessment, operational readiness testing, packaging, distribution and application
    • maximising availability of IT services at retail sites whilst the necessary security patching takes place
    • providing services and tools that provide a safe and secure IT environment and appropriate hardening of all in-scope IT components including endpoint protection, firewalls, VPNs and similar methods
    • setting the security and compliance requirements for all other service delivery activities (e.g. remote access etc)
    • ensuring the timely recoverability of installed systems including data backup and recovery processes
    • enabling the regular conduct of security penetration testing
    • automated production of reports detailing security/compliance events and incidents
  • Management of the services relating to "Service Integration"
    • the project and ad hoc activities to put a service wrapper on solutions and to bring them into a continuous management and monitoring environment
  • Ad hoc services to optimise and improve service effectiveness (e.g. service optimisation, security optimisation etc)

Experience Required:

  • Experience of working within a service provider of managed services to the retail industry
  • Knowledge and exposure to a range of retail technology infrastructure including point of sale, self checkout devices, cash automation, handheld/mobile devices
  • Product Management experience essential
    • Requirements gathering and evaluation
    • Defining and launching a global service - ideally from a shared services model
    • Defining services and ensuring that they can be deployed
  • General knowledge of technology stack so as to be able to identify appropriate services relating to their management:
    • Operating Systems - Win 10 (essential), (Linux/IoS/Android useful)
    • BIOS and Device driver configuration and management
    • Router configuration (WAN/LAN/WLAN)
    • Firewall set up and configuration
    • VPN and equivalent for secure routing of data between sites and central services incl cloud based
  • Process knowledge of:
    • Security patching and Microsoft security policies
    • Intruder detection
    • Device/endpoint hardening including use of commercially available tools
    • Device configuration and access control
    • Device staging and recovery processes
    • Router configuration and management
    • Service Integration and software/hardware integration

Skills Required:

  • Degree level (or equivalent) in Computing, technical-based discipline or business
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Numerate and strong commercial acumen incl business case development
  • Ability to engage with and influence key stakeholders
  • Ability to work at a detailed level of technical definition and, at the same time be able to produce effective business level documentation
  • Strong working knowledge / guidelines and best practices of:
    • Service Management
    • ITIL
    • Continuous Improvement (Six Sigma /Lean - would be ideal)
  • Evidence of continued formalised education in a relevant business/technical topic (Ideal)
